When Powerboat's Were Not Welcome.

A few days ago I met a gentleman who was visiting Newport for the first time in forty plus years.  He told me he'd spent much of his youth living at Fort Adams as his father was in the military.

"The town look a little different?"  I asked him.

"Yeah, back then Fort Adams was our fort!  Every kids dream is to have a fort and we had the best fort ever!  We spent hours and hours running through those tunnels!"

"How about the harbor?"

"Powerboats were not welcome.  People either sailed or rowed."

"Experiencing a bit of culture shock?"

"Oh yeah."
