Port Jeff

Ferryboat wakes and trains mark time with marvelous accuracy and  Port Jefferson, New York's anchorage tolls right along.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

This boat I sail upon periodically needs to sail the waters of Long Island Sound.  Most of her life was spent upon those waters.

Some say you can never go back home.
Some say you should go home periodically.
Some never leave home.

To each her/his own path, boats included, right?

A view from Fishers Island Sound looking east on November 4, 2013.  The Latimer Reef Lighthouse is in the center and the Watch Hill Lighthouse in on the right.  The Watch Hill Lighthouse is pretty close to being the state of Rhode Island's southwestern most point.  In this photo the Watch Hill Lighthouse appears as an island but (as Socrates and many others have said) appearance and reality are not always the same.  It is due to our round home (earth) that the Watch Hill Light appears as an island.

Looooong Island Sound!  Yes, this body of water sometimes does feel VERY LONG!
